What to expect

Longshaw Estate covers a varied landscape of ancient woodland, parkland, streams, ponds, gritstone edges and open heather moorland. The estate provides access to an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways, with routes ranging from shorter family walks to longer adventures across the surrounding countryside.

The landscape changes considerably throughout the year. Spring brings woodland flowers and fresh greenery, while summer adds purple heather to the surrounding moors. Autumn transforms the woodland with seasonal colour, and the open landscape remains a rewarding place to explore during the quieter winter months.

Wildlife is another important part of the Longshaw experience. The estate supports red deer, woodland birds, and a wide variety of other species, while its combination of woodland, grassland, streams and moorland creates a diverse range of habitats.
