Wessenden Reservoir is a peaceful stretch of water surrounded by open moorland and rugged countryside in the South Pennines, forming part of the dramatic landscape around Marsden.
As autumn arrives, the surrounding moors take on a rich mix of russet, gold and deep green, with the changing vegetation creating a striking contrast against the calm waters of the reservoir. It’s a particularly atmospheric time to explore the area, when the quieter landscape and softer seasonal light bring out the character of this remote corner of Yorkshire.
