From 8th June 2026, a ROARsome new free public art trail is set to hit the streets South Yorkshire. 150 hand-painted lion and lioness sculptures, alongside 150 cubs, into the high streets, parks historical landmarks and public spaces across Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster.
Following the hugely successful “Herd of Sheffield” and “Bears of Sheffield” from Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, the Pride of Yorkshire Sculpture Trail is shaping up to be the largest free art event the region, possibly even the country!
A Region-Wide Outdoor Gallery
The Pride of Yorkshire is a large-scale public art trail which encourages locals, as well as tourists, to explore and discover the gems the region has to offer!
Each lion and lioness has been expertly designed and painstakingly hand-painted by local artists. Alongside these, 150 smaller lion cubs designed by local schools and youth organisations will join the pride.
Confirmed locations include; Sheffield city centre, Meadowhall, Wentworth Woodhouse, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Barnsley town centre, Monk Bretton Priory, Doncaster city centre, plus a huge range of parks and public spaces across South Yorkshire.
Rather than being confined to a single venue, the trail is designed to be explored and turns the entire region into a connected exhibition space.

What’s The Trail For?
The Pride of Yorkshire Sculpture Trail is raising money to support Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity. The funds raised through sponsorship, merchandise and the eventual auction, will directly support the hospital’s £20million Emergency Department redevelopment which will support families across South Yorkshire, and further afield, in their most difficult moments.
Exploring South Yorkshire
One of the most best aspects of the Pride of Yorkshire is how it encourages exploration of not just known landmarks, but smaller ones too. Some of the best hidden gems can be found on your doorstep!
Rather than visiting a single location, visitors are invited to discover the entire pride, linking city centres, heritage sites and green spaces through the discovery of each sculpture.
For many, it will become a fantastic way of exploring South Yorkshire in a completely new way – one defined by walking routes, day trips and spontaneous discoveries.
The trail is also expected to provide a welcome boost for local tourism and businesses, helping drawing visitors into towns, attractions and public spaces throughout the entire summer.
Wrapped sculptures have begun appearing across the region, as the mammoth operation gets underway to get the trail in place ready for the launch.

The Pride of Yorkshire officially launches on 8th June 2026 and will run throughout the summer until September. We can’t wait to explore South Yorkshire, one paw at a time!
