What to expect

Few villages are as instantly recognisable as Haworth. Its steep, cobbled Main Street is lined with independent shops, traditional pubs, cafés and galleries, all leading to the historic Brontë Parsonage Museum, where Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë lived and wrote some of the most celebrated novels in English literature. Opposite stands St Michael and All Angels Church, where Patrick Brontë served as curate and where most of the Brontë family are buried. 

Beyond its literary heritage, Haworth is the gateway to the wild landscapes of Brontë Country. Walking routes lead across the open moors to landmarks including Top Withens, the ruined farmhouse widely believed to have inspired Wuthering Heights. The village is also home to Haworth Station on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, where beautifully restored steam trains continue to operate through the Worth Valley, adding to Haworth’s timeless character. 

We’ve found Haworth to be one of Yorkshire’s most atmospheric destinations. Whether you’re wandering the historic streets early in the morning, enjoying afternoon tea in one of the village cafés, or watching the mist roll across the surrounding moors, it’s a place that perfectly blends history, literature and spectacular countryside.
