Walkers Nurseries & Show Gardens
South Yorkshire
Walkers Nurseries & Show Gardens is a family-run garden centre in Blaxton, near Doncaster, combining an extensive range of plants and gardening products with beautifully landscaped gardens to explore.
Established in 1951, the nursery has grown into much more than a place to shop for plants. Its eight-acre show gardens feature peaceful water features, woodland paths, a Japanese pond garden, a stone circle and creative designs inspired by award-winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show displays.
Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your own garden, browsing plants and gifts, enjoying a leisurely stroll through the show gardens or stopping for something to eat, Walkers Nurseries offers a relaxing destination for gardening enthusiasts and visitors alike.

Exploring Walkers Nurseries & Show Gardens
What to expect
The show gardens are the standout feature of a visit, offering a peaceful contrast to the busy retail areas. Spread across approximately eight acres, they include a Water Garden, Woodland Trail, Japanese Pond Garden, Gatehouse and Stone Circle. The gardens have developed over many years, with planting and design features reflecting the creativity of Graham Bodle and his award-winning Chelsea Flower Show work.
The garden centre itself offers a wide selection of plants, including shrubs, bedding plants, grasses, foliage, pines and conifers. Established by Lawrence and Vera Walker in 1951, the family business has retained its horticultural roots while expanding into garden furniture, outdoor living, gifts, homeware and speciality foods. Visitors can browse for practical gardening supplies or simply gather ideas for their own outdoor spaces.
A restaurant and children’s play area make the destination suitable for a longer visit, rather than simply a quick shopping trip. The show gardens reward a slower pace, with different planting schemes, water features, sculptures and carefully arranged spaces to discover as you follow the paths. For anyone interested in garden design, the combination of commercial nursery and landscaped display gardens makes this a particularly distinctive place to explore.

Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints!
Walkers Nurseries & Show Gardens is a carefully maintained horticultural space, so please respect the planting, garden features and displays while exploring. Stay on designated paths, avoid disturbing wildlife, and leave sculptures, water features and other garden elements as you find them. Please follow the site’s dog policy, which excludes dogs from the garden centre, gift shop, café and private show gardens except for assistance dogs. Be considerate of other visitors, particularly around the narrower garden paths and water features.
